Ansley Park Residence

A couple in their fifties, recently empty-nesters, wanted their home to finally feel like theirs. For twenty years it had been a family house — practical, durable, designed around other people's needs. Now they wanted something different. Quieter. More considered. We stripped the interiors back to what the 1920s bungalow had always intended — original hardwood floors refinished, plaster walls restored, fireplaces reopened. Then we layered in a life: a library wall built to hold thirty years of collected books, a kitchen designed for two people who finally have time to cook.

Empty nesting is one of the most interesting briefs. Suddenly the house belongs to the people who own it. We just had to help them figure out who they actually are when nobody else is in the room. — Elise Calloway
